‘They just like to show off’: The strangest things a brothel manager learned about people

Catherine De Noire runs a brothel with over a 100 rooms. Yes, brothels like this are actually still legal in several European countries. She’s shared the most jarring things she’s learned about people through being a manager of a brothel. Some of these really need to be discussed in psychology classes.

There’s an ‘ugly truth’ about why women visit the brothels

Catherine has revealed the “ugly truth” about many of the women who visit the brothel. Although many female visitors are “lovely”, she’s seen women rock up to the brothel and pay for time with a sex worker so they can “put workers down”.

“They start comparing themselves to the sex workers,” she shared on Instagram, “If they’re prettier, younger, skinnier, have better nails… Then they say they could never do this work because they ‘respect themselves too much’. After that, they try to have deep talks with sex workers, asking them if they’ve experienced trauma, and then calling them ‘brave’. And on top of it all, they refuse to tip them for their time.”

British lads ‘aren’t very popular’

After years of being the manager of a brothel, Catherine has learned to be wary about one group of people. Erm, apparently big groups of British lads tend to behave in a very predictable way. She told the Metro: “They come here for their stag parties and they aren’t very popular because they get so drunk. They often wear penis costumes or dress as women, and find it hilarious. After many years, I don’t find it so funny anymore. They’re wild and like to drink and party.

“In the rooms, they’re pretty calm and super shy. They come in here saying, ‘I’m going to f**k everyone’ and ‘I’m so good in bed’, but I hear their version of the story and the sex workers’. The British guys will say, ‘I destroyed her, she was screaming’ and then I’ll speak to the sex worker and she’ll say he lasted one minute. They just like to show off.”

Married men often make the same specific request

Urgh, why am I not surprised that many married men are customers at the brothel? Apparently, the most common request from married men is for someone to try p*gging with them.

“They’re usually married and too scared to tell their fantasy to their wives because they don’t want to be judged, so they seek out a professional service instead,” Catherine explained to the Metro.

People have some very strange fantasies

Catherine shared on Instagram: “One day, we had a customer walk into the club carrying a huge bag full of equipment. For safety reasons, we asked what was inside – and he happily showed us everything he brought.”

Erm, it turns out this person paid several hundred euros to do “a plumber role play”. He changed into a particular outfit and asked the sex worker to pretend she was a homemaker. He then spent several hours fixing the bathroom sink, shower and toilet. He didn’t ask the sex worker to do anything else. Erm, okay.

Many of the sex workers are highly educated

Catherine insisted to the Metro that “this idea that sex work is a last resort often isn’t true”. Apparently many of the sex workers could get other jobs, and only work a few days every month.

“A lot of the women here have university degrees, can speak different languages, and have different options, but they still decide to come here, make fast money and be their own boss.”
