Drag Race winner Krystal Versace says RuPaul stood up and shouted at her and it never aired
Begging BBC to release the footage
We all know that RuPaul is, for lack of a better word, hands off when it comes to making Drag Race these days. Whilst the edit we see certainly makes RuPaul look like a caring and nurturing mother to the queens – it’s pretty widely reported that RuPaul barely interacts with the queens at all. Especially if the cameras are off. Ru doesn’t even stay in drag for filming, admitting on a podcast that he shoots his runway walk and then gets behind the judging desk in slippers and pyjama bottoms. Diva. It’s also widely reported that if you’re one of the queens RuPaul is fond of, you’ll know about it. One of those queens was Drag Race UK season three winner Krystal Versace – and the iconic KV just revealed that there was a moment where RuPaul stood up and shouted at her that was unaired.
‘Was it just me dreaming?’

Speaking in a video doing a get ready with me on TikTok, Krystal Versace revealed this unaired Drag Race UK moment with RuPaul where mother literally shouted at her. Krystal explains “I remember this time that was really iconic for me. It was actually not aired, it was a really surreal moment. I remember since it’s happened I’ve always debated did it happen or not or was it just me dreaming.

“The outfit, which was actually created by Dedelicious my drag sister, I walked down the runway as Cruella. Thinking yeah I look puss, but I didn’t really think I’m the moment. Let’s keep it pushing. I was walking down the runway and not thinking anything of it – and as I went to the right [RuPaul] literally got out of her seat.
“She went ‘Work, b*tch’,” and Krystal simulates RuPaul clicking her finger – truly gagging over her look. “There’s a moment if you watch it back where I kind of look,” Krystal says. “And that was me responding to her literally stepping up on her two feet in her joggers and leaning over the panel to say werk bitch to me. I went back and asked did that just happen and everybody said yeah that’s so fierce that she leant over and screamed at you.”
What a time to be alive. RuPaul famously told Krystal Versace she was “born to do drag” and then crowned Krystal as the winner of season three. She was 19 when RuPaul announced her the winner, the youngest to take the crown in franchise history.
