‘An outright violation’: Health clinic releases statement after ‘unethical’ staff TikTok

The employees have been fired after mocking patients


Sansum Clinic has issued a full scathing statement after a group of their employees filmed and posted a shocking TikTok video at work mocking patients.

The health clinic in Santa Barbara, California, has fired the workers after they took pictures of patients’ bodily fluids on chairs and made insensitive jokes, including telling people to “guess the substance”.

People are outraged on social media, calling the whole thing “dehumanising,” “unethical” and “unprofessional”.

As soon as they because aware of the video, Sansum Clinic shared a statement on Instagram revealing they had placed the staff members on leave and were opening an internal review.

“We share the concern raised by a recent social media post at one of our care sites and took immediate action once we became aware. We take this matter very seriously and are conduction a full review. Patient trust and dignity are always our top priority and any behaviour that violated those standards is unacceptable,” they said.

“The individual who posted the content is a former employee and was not employed with us at at the time of the post. Any other staff shown are part of our internal investgiation and are on administrative leave pending the results.”

Then, the clinic released a second statement revealing the patients had been fired.

It said: “Sutter Health has terminated the employees responsible for the inappropriate and insensitive photos posted on social media. This unacceptable behaviour is an outright violation of our polices, shows a lack of respect for our patients and will not be tolerated. Protecting the trust of those we serve is our highest priority, and when that trust is violated, we take swift action to address it.”

In a third statement to the Los Angeles Times, a spokesperson for Sansum Clinic said they are using this horrific incident to reinforce their policies with other staff members.

“We expect all team members to live our patients-first mission and uphold the highest standards of compassion, professionalism and respect. We are using this inappropriate incident to reinforce our comprehensive policies with all our team members across the organization,” they revealed.
