So there’s this thing called the Pentagon Pizza Index that links takeaway surges to crises
he index spiked when people thought Trump was dead
The wild rumours about President Trump being dead were quashed this weekend after he was spotted enjoying a round of golf.
The internet was convinced he’d died after he wasn’t seen on video for over three days and the TikTok detectives were of course out in full force. One leading theory convincing people that something was wrong was something called the Pentagon pizza index, whatever the hell that is.
So, what actually is the Pentagon pizza index?
@jackmacbarstool Fascinating stuff out of the Pentagon Pizza Report!
The Pentagon Pizza index is basically a theory TikTokers have that suggests a spike in late night takeaway orders near US intelligence headquarters could signify a security crisis or problem.
Basically, the idea is that orders for takeaways or food companies surge when there’s a big important meeting in the Pentagon because of the amount of people gathered there.
One TikTokker explained it as: “It’s how much pizza is delivered to the pentagon when smth is goin’ on. So if a bunch of people are stayin’ late, a lot of pizza will be ordered.”
Another wrote: “Pizzato’s Pizza is now at a 769 per cent spike.”
This is the first time I’ve heard of this theory, but it’s pretty airtight according to users online. During the swirling rumours over the weekend about the President of the USA, one TikTok user JonJon added fuel to the fire, writing: “300 per cent surge on the Pentagon pizza index less than an hour ago and Tr*mp hasn’t been seen since Tuesday…”

Explaining the lore further, one TikTok comment read: “Basically a guy who owned a pizza place in DC started being able to predict when something big was about to happen because suddenly he’d get a load of orders from the Pentagon late at night. They banned people from ordering delivery to the Pentagon but Pentagon employees aren’t difficult to spot.”
