These were the real stars of Love Island 2025, and it’s not any of the Islanders

Love Island 2025 is well and truly over, and it’s time to look back at who the real stars of the series were. Spoiler alert: It’s not any of the actual Islanders.

Obviously Shakira, Toni and Yasmin were everyone’s favourites in the villa this year, and we have to give a special mention to Cach and Jamie too, who were the unproblematic guys the series needed. Sorry Harry, you’ve still got some redemption to do.

However, the real stars this year were the Love Island cast’s mums. Usually, they briefly come in, chat to their sons and daughters and scurry off again. Not this year. Here were all the best mum moments that can’t be forgotten.

Shakira’s mum refused to hug Harry

One of the messiest parts of the series was when Shakira’s mum walked into the villa and refused to hug Harry. It was what he absolutely deserved, after messing around her daughter at the start and then going exclusive with Helena. She made it known that she hadn’t forgiven him. Iconic.

Toni, Shakira and Yasmin’s mums’ friendship

Staying on Shakira’s mum, the friendship she formed with Toni and Yasmin’s mums was incredible. It’s the first time we’ve ever seen parents actually become friends thanks to the show. They filmed a TikTok together revealing they’d been hanging out every night off-camera, and even planned a trip to meet up.

Harry’s mum was so savage, and it was iconic

During Love Island Aftersun, Maya Jama asked Harry’s mum what she thought of her son’s behaviour and she said: “No, I’ve disowned him. I don’t recognise him. Who is this child? I have never seen him like that because he doesn’t introduce me to anybody other than the ones he’s been with. I do not recognise him.”

Okay, it was obviously a joke, but it was pretty iconic. They then showed a clip of him crying to Dejon and she added: “Well, good. Yeah seriously, so he should.” Savage!

She didn’t even vote for her son either

When Harry left the villa, he revealed that his mum didn’t even vote for him, but she did put on a cheeky bet for him to win.

“Want to hear something funny? So I spoke to my mum last night and she said ‘Oh you were the Bookies favourite so I put £10 on you to win’. But she didn’t even end up voting for me. She told me on the phone that she forgot to vote. She put a bet on me to win though,” he said.

The drama is still going outside the villa

The mums haven’t stopped now the show is over, either. Shakira’s mum is warming to Harry now, but she’s been blaming his friends for his behaviour instead.

“The people that do surround Harry haven’t painted themselves in the best light. I feel like they have zero respect for my daughter, I’m just going to say it how it is,” she said on Instagram Live.

“That’s something that I am yet to address. It’s something that I will be speaking to people about in private, but yeah, it will be addressed.”

So much mum drama!
