‘Let the monsters eat themselves’: Ginger Minj addresses her biggest Drag Race critics
‘It wasn’t until it aired I realised how much I got under her skin’
Ginger Minj has been crowned the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 10 – but that victory has carried a heavy burden. The reign of Ginger so far has been marred by the frustration of viewers who honestly didn’t buy into her storyline, and the show has been hit with plenty of fury from fans accusing producers of rooting for a Ginger Minj win so hard that it created dissatisfaction. This unrest hasn’t just come from fans, and some of Ginger’s strongest critics are queens from the franchise itself. Not that they’re anti Ginger and most respect her talent, but just are unhappy with the ending. Now Ginger Minj has addressed her biggest Drag Race feud and critics in some new quotes after she divisively bagged the crown and sceptre.
‘I don’t know that I should be cheering this on’
Speaking in a new interview with Gold Derby, Ginger Minj opened up about how she feels specifically about Mistress Isabelle Brooks who has been one of Ginger’s most vocal critics.
Ginger condemned the fact that Mistress and Jorgeous played dirty when they tried to score points in their bracket. She explained “I knew that something had happened in Bracket 2, but all of those girls refused to talk about it with the rest of us. They refused to give us the actual tea, so we found out with the rest of the world when it aired. All of us were like, ‘Holy sh–. So shady.’

“Yeah, it’s a competition. And to me, that means something different than playing mind games and trying to trick people out of what is theirs. It was good TV, but I don’t know that I should be rooting for this or cheering this on.”
On Mistress, Ginger Minj said any feud between the pair was “one sided” on Drag Race All Stars 10. Ginger continued: “I didn’t even realise it was happening! I could feel her poking me here and there, but it wasn’t until it aired that I realised how much I actually got under her skin, which is so funny, because we actually get along outside of all this. We have great conversations and a great relationship, but in the actual competition, I really did affect her that way.”
Ginger Minj compared the way she approached the beef with Mistress to the way she handled the negative reaction to her win online. “I’m so focused on what’s in front of me, the love and positivity. It’s kind of a one-sided fight with all of these people. Let the monsters eat themselves, and I’ll just continue to do what I do, and do it to the best of my ability,” she says.
