
University of York rises 15 places in QS World University Rankings 2026
It also placed 25th out of all UK universities in the guide
The University of York has been ranked the 169th in the reputable QS World University Rankings, moving up 15 places from 2025.
Released on the Thursday 19th June, the QS World University Rankings are viewed as the most thorough global rankings of universities, utilising criteria which includes; academic reputation, faculty to student ratio, employer reputation, global engagement, and sustainability.
In terms of UK universities, the University of York places as the 25th university, having made immense progress in terms of its sustainability and global engagement. This follows the announcement that the University of York is to open a campus in Mumbai, India.
The University of York improved not only in the QS World University Rankings, but also in another university guide, demonstrating the progress made by the institution. It also moved up five places from last year in the Complete University Guide 2026, where it now places 12th in the UK. Furthermore, UoY ranks eighth in terms of Russell Group Universities, with an overall score of 79 per cent.
York St John University was not included in the QS World Rankings, however, it places at 105th in the Complete University Guide 2026, with a 79 per cent for student satisfaction.
