‘I’m gay, I’m gay’: Iconic Modern Family actor responds to viral meme in best way, by coming out

They revealed their sexuality while recreating arguably the best scene

Aubrey Anderson-Emmons, the former child actress who played the iconic Lily Tucker-Pritchett in all 11 seasons of Modern Family, has responded to the viral meme about her character by coming out.

Lily was easily one of, if not THEE, best character on Modern Family. She joined in season three, and we literally watched her grow from a 4-year-old tot to a full-on teenager by the end of the show. Her lines are undoubtedly the most quotable, from “Does somebody need a wambulance?” to “Sometimes, when you read to me, I pretend to fall asleep so you’ll go.”

Since leaving the show, while continuing her studies and pursuing normal kid activities, Aubrey has become an influencer of sorts, with 2.6 million followers on TikTok. It was on that very platform that she made her sexuality announcement.

Lily’s iconic lines from Modern Family have turned into a meme

Modern Family’s season four episode The Future Dunphys, which sees the family come face to face with ghosts of Christmas future, Lily learns about her origins in Vietnam. Her dads and Aunt Gloria take her to a Vietnamese resturant, sparking joke after joke as Lily firmly states, “I hate Vietnam.” When Gloria informs her that she is, in fact, Vietnamese, Lily responds with, “No, I’m not, I’m gay. I’m gay.”

“Honey, no, you’re not gay. You are just confused!” her dad, Mitchell, replies.

For some unknown reason, or perhaps just because it’s June, the sound has gone positively viral on TikTok recently. Seeing the fanfare around her legendary line, Aubrey Anderson-Emmons responded.

In a video uploaded to TikTok and Instagram, Aubrey stepped into the role of Lily once again as she lip-synced to the catchy Modern Family line – she’s still got it! It was on top of the video that she wrote, “People keep joking so much about me being gay when I literally am (I’m bi).”

“Happy pride month to all and to all a goodnight hehehe,” she captioned the post.

Reacting to the post, Trisha Paytas said: “Queen!!!”

“Omgggg cam and Mitch would be so happy,” another wrote.

Someone else added: “Coming out to this audio is truly iconic.”

As of yet, it doesn’t appear as though any of the Modern Family cast have reacted to little Lily’s triumphant coming out video, but considering how close she still is to her on-screen family, it’s surely only a matter of time.
