People think Alyson Hannigan is teasing she’s going to be back as Willow in the Buffy reboot

There have been whispers of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot for years and years – but until February this year, when Sarah Michelle Gellar confirmed her involvement and that things were well and truly about to start slaying again – that anyone really got giddy about the fact that it was happening. The fact that it wasn’t involving Joss Whedon, whose public cancellation threw any sort of hopes and dreams about Buffy coming back by the wayside. And whilst we know that Sarah Michelle Gellar is reprising her role as Buffy in the reboot, now Alyson Hannigan is teasing that she might be back as Willow too.

Here are all the clues and hints that Alyson is going to be back with her on-screen bestie as we hope and pray that Buffy and Willow will be back to help the next generation.

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alyson Hannigan sent everyone who’s ever enjoyed even a crumb of Buffy into a meltdown after they posted this very wholesome series of pictures of the two of them reunited over the past weekend. The two are working to raise awareness for meningitis right now – but of course they’re getting asked about Buffy at every turn.

Alyson then posted a picture in her suit saying she was out to discuss “all things Sunnydale”.

The two of them did just that. Speaking on SiriusXM, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Alyson Hannigan discussed what they want out of the Buffy reboot. “I hope that it brings comfort,” Sarah said. “I think for me … the big thing is that when you realize all these years later that the show still translates, because sometimes you watch a show that you loved and you see it now and you’re like, ‘Okay,’ but it doesn’t have the same meaning.

“And ‘Buffy’ is still hitting people who are watching it for the first time, and they’re seeing themselves, and they’re seeing their friends, and they’re finding their chosen family. And I think more than ever right now, as we get more and more divided, we need that chosen family, so I hope to provide a new chosen family.”

“It was really like a high school, college experience because it was full on,” Hannigan explained. Gellar added, “I was 17 when we did the pilot, 18 when we started, so I looked to all of them because I was learning.”

All this press and the link up is honestly convincing Buffy fans that Alyson Hannigan just has to be in the reboot. She’s teasing the hell out of it. Maybe I’ve got my tinfoil hat on but I choose to be a believer.
