All the heartbreaking tributes to Michelle Trachtenberg shared by the Buffy cast

On Wednesday, the heartbreaking news broke that Michelle Trachtenberg had died, aged 39. Michelle Trachtenberg was an icon of the 90s and 00s, an actor who has starred in so many seminal shows and films of many of our childhoods and adolescence, and her loss is unimaginable. To me, Michelle Trachtenberg has defined so much of my life because of her integral part in Buffy The Vampire Slayer – as Buffy’s younger sister Dawn. After her passing, many of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer have posted moving tributes to Michelle Trachtenberg on their social media.

James Marsters

Spike and Dawn shared a lovely dynamic on Buffy, with Spike often being one of the only characters who didn’t treat Dawn like a total child. James Marsters loving paid tribute to Michelle on his socials, writing “My heart is heavy today. We have lost a beautiful soul. Michelle was fiercely intelligent, howlingly funny, and a very talented person. She died much too young, and leaves behind scores of people who knew and loved her.

Alyson Hannigan posted a series of pictures of both her and Michelle Trachtenberg and Willow and Dawn in the show, saying “I am deeply saddened by the news of Michelle’s passing. She brought a loving energy to the set of Buffy. My thoughts are with Michelle’s family and friends.”

David Boreanaz

David Boreanaz posted to his Instagram story with a picture of Michelle and said “so very sad – my thoughts to all her friends and family.”

Emma Caulfield-Ford

Emma Caulfield and Michelle Trachtenberg were both made series regulars of Buffy The Vampire Slayer for the same latter three seasons, and she was quick to join the tributes. Emma wrote on her story “I’m so sorry your bright light died so young. Our Buffy family lost a little sister today. Rest in peace lovely Mish Mish. You were loved.”

Nicholas Brendon

Brendon posted a tribute video to his Facebook profile after hearing the news of Michelle’s passing, saying “I didn’t see her much after Buffy, a couple of events together, but when we were working together she was just like a beam of light. I think it was just the last thing I expected, not that I was expecting anyone to die. But I really am sorry to her family.”
