‘It’s not nice’: Zara McDermott reacts to Sam Thompson’s relationship with Samie Elishi

It’s not as iconic as ‘YOU CAN’ but she has responded

Amid her relationship with One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson, Zara McDermott has reacted to her ex Sam Thompson’s romance with Love Island star Samie Elishi. After five years together, countless viral moments, and people becoming way too invested in their relationship, Sam and Zara split up over Christmas and announced the sullen news to the world soon after.

Though they kept annoyingly tight-lipped about the breakup, proboably after learning their lesson because of the viral “You can” moment from their first split in 2020, little tidbits of information started to slip through the cracks thanks to sources close to the pair.

“Zara and Sam’s relationship just never had felt like it was heading for the long haul. They never really recovered from Zara’s cheating; most couples would have struggled lasting for as long as they did afterwards,” one source told the MailOnline.

Soon enough, both Sam and Zara were linked with other stars: Sam Thompson with Samie Elishi and Zara McDermott with Louis Tomlinson. Again, they’ve kept relatively quiet about their exes, but now a source has revealed Zara’s true feelings about her ex’s new boo.

Zara McDermott has no hard feelings about Sam Thompson and Samie Elishi

Though Sam Thompson was snapped sharing a snog with Samie Elishi, who is Tom Clare and Luca Bish’s ex from the reality TV show, neither party have explicitly confirmed the romance.

“Even though Sam and Zara’s relationship ended a long time before they officially split up, Sam did feel a bit like he had egg on his face,” a source told OK! “He knew it had been over for a while, but of course seeing his ex move on with a member of one of the world’s most successful boy bands ever is a little bit different to the norm. She’s hit the jackpot!”

According to the article, Zara is ultimately happy about the news breaking if it means that people will stop seeing her ex-boyfriend as a victim, explaining: “Zara understandably doesn’t want to be seen as the villain, and it’s not easy when you’re the first to move into a new relationship. If this news stops people from thinking of Sam as a victim, especially after she cheated on him when they were together, she’s happy.”

But, of course, Zara McDermott’s going to have some mixed feelings about Sam Thompson being in a relationship with Samie Elishi, after all, they were together for a good chunk of time, and their relationship was a huge driving factor behind their podcast’s success.

“She knew that she and Sam were never going to reconcile, and of course it’s not nice to see an ex kissing someone else, but actually she does care for him,” the source added. “She’s focusing on herself and not trying to read too much into it, but she’s happy to see he’s doing well.”

I mean, can you really be that angry if you’re dating the third most popular One Direction member?
