Right, here’s a full rundown of JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes’ messy on and off screen ‘romance’

They went on This Morning to reveal the truth

JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes have FINALLY addressed their bubbling romance, and not to say I told you so, but it’s looking more “platonic” than some sordid love affair.

If you told me that in 2025 we would be debating the alleged relationship between a Love Island legend and a former Dance Moms girly, I would have called you a liar. And yet, here we are.

Both Chris Hughes and JoJo Siwa took part in the most recent Celebrity Big Brother series alongside other names such as Patsy Palmer, Danny Beard, and Ella Rae Wise. Their friendship became the biggest running plot of the season, and after one hug too many, people began speculating about a potential romance brewing.

It’s all super confusing, so here’s a rundown to get you all caught up.

Chris Hughes defended JoJo Siwa against another Big Brother housemate

Chris Hughes

In the earliest days of Celebrity Big Brother, JoJo Siwa was supported by Chris Hughes after Mickey Rourke cruelly joked, “If I stay longer than four days, you won’t be gay anymore.” He further stated how he was going to “vote the lesbian out” and also referenced JoJo when asking for a “fag”.

Chris was quite literally a shoulder to cry on, and the brewing friendship was applauded far and wide at the time.

People speculated about a brewing connection, and we all thought they were crazy

When certain publications publish stories that loosely stitch together so-called “clues” about two people getting together, the speculation is usually laughed at. But there’s a first time for everything, and soon enough, everyone on Twitter and Facebook was claiming that Chris and JoJo were getting very close.

“I’ve become invested in the JoJo Siwa/Chris Hughes/Kath Ebbs drama even though I don’t watch Celebrity Big Brother and have never once cared about them before,” one person wrote.

Another said: “Chris Hughes rn: I can’t believe I pulled Jojo Siwa.”

JoJo and Kath Ebbs split after the CBB final

After Celebrity Big Brother concluded, with Coronation Street’s Jack P Shepherd winning the crown, JoJo’s partner Kath Ebbs did not meet her beau on the stage. She reportedly refused to reunite with her love on camera, which naturally sparked further speculation about their relationship.

Soon enough, news broke that JoJo had broken up with Kath at the wrap party that very same night – ouch!

Kath shared her side of the story

After Twitter went into a meltdown, Kath Ebbs posted a video to their Instagram that detailed their side of the story in excruciating detail.

“I honestly feel so numbed out right now and disoriented that I feel like the only thing I have to do in this situation is to finally address it after two weeks of sitting back watching certain things unfold and not being able to get any clarity from the person who it involved,” they said.

“I guess in an odd way, I don’t know whether to call it love bombing or whatever, but it seems to me I have experienced a version of that. Being told I am the love of someone’s life, being asked to marry them before this social experiment. Being adored throughout behind closed doors. Being hurt by what I saw, but wanting to work through it and have a conversation and get clarity.”

Detailing how the breakup actually came about, Kath continued: “In the last eight hours I flew here and I went to the live show to show up for my partner and support them in their experience and then later on address my feelings of hurt and work through them. Before I could even get back to the hotel, I went to the afterparty with my, I guess now ex, crazy thing to say, and was dumped at the party.

“I was told that there are ‘confused feelings there’, take from that what you will and that they had realised in the house that I wasn’t the person that they wanted to spend the foreseeable future.”

They’ve been pictured spending time together

JoJo has not returned to the States since wrapping up Celebrity Big Brother, no doubt with TV appearances booked and ready to create even more drama. Ahead of said appearances, JoJo and Chris were pictured at a tennis club over the weekend as one witness confessed, “JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes were at my club earlier lol.”

Another picture posted on Twitter showed the two enjoying a group meal out, with JoJo putting her arm around her new friend. Later in the evening, they also took some selfies with other pub goers.

They had their first interview together on This Morning

On Monday, JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes appeared on This Morning to set the record straight about their alleged relationship. JoJo said Chris was NOT a determining factor in the end of her relationship with Kath, firmly stating once and for all: “Look, he’s a great guy. It’s platonic. We have a lot of fun together.”

Delving headfirst into the mess her Celebrity Big Brother appearance created, JoJo noted how the experience had forced her to address things she wasn’t truly happy with.

“I’ll be honest, that was not a plan or my intention. It wasn’t supposed to happen like that. They weren’t going to come, then an hour into the party they attended, one thing led to another, they asked if I was happy, and I said no. The conversation took place there,” she explained.

“I sat with myself and really realised things I was okay with in my life, I never should have been okay with. So many things. Obviously, I wanted to hold them inside, didn’t want to air it out publicly. There were things I knew I shouldn’t be okay with, and I’m not happy. I knew as soon as I got out, I wanted to fix things and make the changes I needed to make. The first thing you want to do is exactly what you need to make it as good as you can.”

So that settles that, but whether the public masses buy into their version of events is another thing entirely.
