‘I’m pretty again’: Inside Mickey Rourke’s extensive (and mysterious) plastic surgery journey
Mickey has never publically admitted to surgery for cosmetic reasons
People watching Celebrity Big Brother were left with two questions in the most recent episodes: Why does Mickey Rourke’s face look like that and why did it take the producers so damn long to kick him to the curb?
We knew that Mickey Rourke would be a controversial inclusion going in, but no one could have predicted the abhorrent comments he made towards Dance Moms star-turned-pop princess JoJo Siwa. The overtly derogatory moment came when he told the out and proud lesbian: “If I stay longer than four days you won’t be gay anymore.”
JoJo was literally in tears after Mickey called her a “f*g” and suggested he was going to “vote the lesbian out”, but thankfully, Chris Hughes was on hand to offer some support.
Mickey has since been kicked out of the Big Brother house – and good riddance – but that still leaves one question: His face. Here’s what we know.
Mickey Rourke had a LOT of plastic surgery to reconstruct his face
Mickey Rourke has tried his hand at a number of vocations over the years, but he’s arguably most well-known for his professional boxing stint in the early 1990s. After countless bloody fights and having his face pummeled repeatedly, Mickey needed a lot of plastic surgery to reconstruct his money maker.
“Most of it was to mend the mess of my face because of the boxing, but I went to the wrong guy to put my face back together,” he told the MailOnline in 2009.

“I had my nose broken twice. I had five operations on my nose and one on a smashed cheekbone. I had to have cartilage taken from my ear to rebuild my nose and a couple of operations to scrape out the cartilage because the scar tissue wasn’t healing properly. That was one of the most painful operations, but the worst was haemorrhoids.”
Has Mickey ever undergone plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons?
Having your face reconstructed because of injury is one thing, and something Mickey himself has spoken about a lot, but going under the knife for cosmetic reasons is something completely different. There shouldn’t be any shame attached to it, but Mickey has never, to our knowledge, admitted to having cosmetic surgery.
But that hasn’t stopped people from speculating, and for years, people have suggested Mickey went under the knife a few more times than he’s let on. I mean, if the evidence is on your face is there really any point in hiding it?
Exposing his plastic surgery in an interview with The Mirror, his ex-wife Debra Feuer said: “He’ll kill me for saying this but he wanted the part in one film [Wild Orchid] so badly that he got cheek implants. He told me he was swollen because he’d had his molar teeth removed. But I knew that was untrue – he didn’t have any molars to take out.”
Doctors have also speculated on his possible surgeries, with plastic surgeon Dr Christopher Balinger theorising in an Instagram video: “He’s definitely had a facelift, cheekbones are sunken in, jawline is totally different. He’s also definitely had lip filler or lip implants. The lips just look odd. Then over time everything has just loosened up.”
Similarly, Harley Street plastic surgeon Dr Omar Tillo told the MailOnline that Mickey had likely undergone more than one facelift to fix sagging skin.
“Over the years, he’s likely had facelifts to tighten sagging skin, as well as eyelid surgery to lift and smooth the eye area. His fuller cheeks and lips point to the use of dermal fillers or implants, while Botox has likely been used to soften lines,” he said. “Rourke may also have had a hair transplant, as his hairline appears fuller than it once did.”
