Ranked: The Russell Group unis with the most hungover students in 2025
Apparently Warwick students are wilder than we all thought?!
An eternal struggle for uni students is surviving a 9am lecture with an evil hangover. Your head is pounding, your throat is dry, and you can’t even remember what degree you’re meant to be studying. New research shows that not all uni students struggle with this in the same away. Students are way more hungover at some Russell Group unis than others.
The alcohol-free beer brand Mash Gang analysed how many people searched for hangover cures in the last year. Eight out of ten of the UK cities where people get the most hungover are cities with Russell Group unis. What a remarkable coincidence.
The Russell Group uni with the most hungover students is the University of Birmingham. Congrats to Brum students. The University of Manchester wasn’t far behind – over 250,000 people searched for hangover cures in Manchester last year. This isn’t a massive surprise, since Manchester is just objectively the best Russell Group uni for wild nights out.
