Inside Paul’s ironic job as a wellness advisor, when he can’t control his anger on MAFS

His job description literally says he should ‘avoid conflict’

In the recent episode of MAFS Australia, we’ve seen wellness advisor Paul Antoine punch a wall in the apartment he shared with bride Carina. As he admitted he “completely lost my nerve” and struck the wall, onto the screen came a heading to remind us all of his job. Ironic, it really was.

The outburst came after a rapper had been playing in a car Carina and Paul were in. Carina made a comment that she had slept with the rapper in question. Paul said he felt “disrespected” by the comment. Upon returning home, Paul punched a hole in the wall in anger. Carina had off-screen chats with producers, and when it was determined she felt safe for him to return, Paul came back to apologise.

But, as he did so, MAFS added the same on-screen message they do when cast members are introduced. These say their name, age, and job. It felt very ironic to see a crying Paul, admitting he can’t control his feelings sometimes, described as a “wellness advisor”. So, what is his job outside of MAFS?

What does Paul do as a wellness advisor when not on MAFS Australia 2025?

Paul is a wellness advisor. This is typically someone who has clients, and will help them to make plans to improve their wellbeing. They advise them on decisions that will improve both their emotional and physical health.

Right now, Paul is working as a wellness coach for a company called Sodexo. According to its website, Sodexo is “the global leader in sustainable food and valued experiences at every moment in life: Learn, work, heal and play. We believe in creating a better day for everyone to build a better life for all. Whether you’re looking for key figures or our in-depth mission – this is who we are.”

For the company, Paul works as a wellness advisor for those working in the mines. According to reports, Sodexo manages accommodation and food for fly-in fly-out mining workers in desert locations.

Sodexo in Australia employs over 4,000 people. The Tab found a copy of a wellness advisor job description there, and it states people who do this job will “take an active role in enhancing the health and wellness of our workforce.” In this role, Paul is “the face of our wellness culture, driving and advocating for our wellbeing strategies.”

People in this role are said to have excellent communication skills, and again, quite ironically have an “ability to apply knowledge and manage issues to get to a resolution avoiding misunderstanding, conflict or unwillingness.” Sure.
