This MAFS Australia groom was put in to ‘save’ the season after six people quit early on
He’s supposed to ‘stir up some major drama’
One of the new MAFS Australia grooms was specifically put into the experiment to “save” season 12, and can you guess who?
Well, it’s Teejay Halkias, the 28-year-old business development manager, who producers thought would really stir things up thanks to his reality TV past.
The MAFS groom, who married Beth Kelly, was on Big Brother Australia in 2023, and he already had a bit of a following on Instagram before the show.
A source told Yahoo Lifestyle they brought Teejay in to “save” season 12 after six cast members quit in the first two weeks of production.
They claimed his reality TV past means he already “knows how to perform on camera and can deliver ratings”.
He comes from a big Greek and Indian family and is the only single child of seven siblings, but he has been in two long-term relationships before.
In the first two weeks, we saw Eliot and Lauren leave the experiment, followed by Tim and Katie and then Jake and Ashleigh not long after.

An insider told Daily Mail Australia during filming last year: “This is unheard of. We’re already down six people, and it’s only been two weeks.”
“The pressure on the remaining cast is enormous, and it’s creating a lot of tension,” they continued.
Another source close to the producers told the Daily Mail: “Teejay is definitely going to bring some serious vibes to the MAFS experiment.”
“He’s a lover boy at heart, but he’s not afraid to speak his mind, which could either make him a perfect match or stir up some major drama.”

They also asked Eliot and Lauren to return to the experiment in a MAFS Australia first, with new bride and groom Veronica and Clint.
Will the new intruder groom really bring some juicy drama to season 12? I hope so!
