Eliot reveals real reason he returned to MAFS Australia and it’s not about finding love

The biggest bombshell of the second MAFS Australia commitment ceremony was that Eliot Donovan and Lauren Hall are returning to the experiment with new partners, but he didn’t come back to find love.

Eliot savagely walked out on his MAFS wife during their honeymoon, quitting the entire show at the first opportunity because she didn’t meet his strict list of crazy non-negotiables.

Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle, the 35-year-old revealed that he chose to come back to the experiment because he wanted to show his true self after he was wrongly painted out to be the show’s biggest villain.

He said he was “very unhappy” with the way his one-on-one chat with expert John Aikman was edited, claiming they “cut out anything of substance” and just had him “bobbing his head”.

“I could kinda see, uh, jeez, I’m kind of very exposed here. Like they could do whatever they wanted to me. I was a little bit like, ugh,” he said.

“And then I got a call from the head producer and she said, ‘Listen, we have another match for you, what would you think about coming back?'”

“Obviously I was like, oh, fu*k, I can’t make that mistake twice. And, I thought about it, and I thought, you know what? Maybe it’s a chance for me to engage with the experiment in a bit of a different way.”

So, he came back to the experiment to repair his reputation, not to find a new partner he would hopefully spend the rest of his life with.

“And that’s the way I saw it. I didn’t come back being like, I’m a new man, I’m changed or whatever. It was more like, look, maybe I tried, You know, I was looking at the experiment in the wrong way,” Eliot continued.

“Maybe I should treat it a bit more like an experiment. And, uh, you know, maybe that’ll give me an opportunity to kind of show who I actually am, rather than them just cutting out the bits that they want, you know, for a villain.”

The groom is getting married to a brand new wife, Veronica Cloherty, and it will be interesting to see whether this MAFS marriage goes better than his first.
