Ryan shares seven-word comment cut from MAFS that caused production to ‘shut down’

He made a sour ‘joke’ with Jacqui on their honeymoon, that caused producers to halt filming

Ryan and Jacqui have had possibly the most turbulent marriage in MAFS Australia history. Now, Ryan has spoken out in a bombshell interview, and shared more details of their partnership that wasn’t shown in the episodes. It turns out Ryan made another comment that didn’t make to the final MAFS edit.

Ryan has received a lot of backlash since being on MAFS, mainly due to an x-rated comment he made about his on-screen bride, Jacqui. But, that wasn’t the start of their worries. Their wedding was awkward, they fought over the picture the ranking challenge, and in general it’s been tough for them to agree on anything.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Ryan has revealed it was much earlier on however, that he knew things weren’t going to work. He said things took a dark turn between himself on Jacqui, right from their honeymoon. He explained he made one particular comment that kick-started the downfall, and their marriage wasn’t ever going to really recover from it.

‘Producers immediately cut filming’

“We were just having banter, laughing in our robes, sipping champagne, and making jokes about the fancy hotel pillows,’ Ryan said. He explained there was one pillow on the hotel’s pillow menu specifically for pregnant women. He joked: “Be careful, these arms can cause pregnancies.”

A strange thing to say, and he’s claimed Jacqui didn’t take it well at all. It soured their entire marriage. “The next thing I knew, she sat up in bed, recoiled from me and started interrogating me like I was a criminal,” Ryan claimed. “She was grilling me – asking if I had ever got someone pregnant, if I had a criminal record. It was insane. I was trapped. I had to answer truthfully because I knew we were being filmed, but I could feel the walls closing in.”

He said he was told by production the footage wouldn’t make it into the final edit, due to it’s sensitive nature. However, he did say Jacqui brought up the joke at a later commitment ceremony. He has claimed the joke was taken quite well by other cast members, who laughed, but Jacqui didn’t find it funny.

He claimed Jacqui shouted: “‘How can you all find that funny? I will forever stand up for women’s rights – especially when it comes to r*pe!” Following this, producers immediately cut filming. “It was the most surreal, horrifying moment of my life,” he said. He said he was “traumatised” as the show went into “crisis talks”.

It’s not entirely clear what has happened since then, but the former MAFS couple have been back and forth talking about each other online since. Let’s just say, it doesn’t take a genius to work out if Ryan and Jacqui are still together.
