New Hallam SU Officers confirmed for next academic year

The 2025/26 officers will start their roles in July


Hallam SU Officers’ for the next academic year have been confirmed.

The new team was announced last Friday (14th March), following the conclusion of the annual HSU elections – in which 13,118 votes were cast across the six roles put to the polls.

2025/26 Officers will begin their roles in July.

Molly Pemberton – HSU’s current Social Sciences and Arts College Officer and Deputy President – has been elected to take over the role of President, succeeding the incumbent Martha Mitchell.

In a statement on Instagram, Molly said she was “very excited” to be taking on the role and “so grateful” for the support.

In her manifesto, Molly highlighted the importance of policies on the cost of living, mental health and wellbeing support, and university communications, as well as lobbying the university to promote more sustainable and ethical careers.

Shafaq Sajid was re-elected as International Students’ Officer, as was Layla Barrett as Wellbeing, Sport and Physical Activity Officer.

Meanwhile, three new Education Officers will start their positions in the summer: Ebuka Hilary Obi for the College of Business, Technology and Engineering; Leah Steel for the College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences; and Franklin Okafor for the College of Social Sciences and Arts.
