Arrietty responds after being called out for ‘the most villainous thing’ ever seen on Drag Race
Her actions were so cruel and personal they made Onya burst into tears
After years of relative nicey-nicey behaviours on RuPaul’s Drag Race, season 17 has caused major drama and has seen many feuds and arguments. But none have caused as much uproar than the one we’ve seen in the preview for this week’s episode, and it all centres on Arrietty. Arrietty has been a bit of a villain this season – last week, when she was eliminated, she stole Jewel’s jokes for the roast. But all that pales into reality TV fodder when this week she reduces Onya Nurve to tears after writing a very personal and nasty message on the mirror for her – and it’s caused uproar both on the show and in the fandom watching. Now, Arrietty responds to the backlash after her Drag Race scandal got caused “one of the most villainous things” ever seen on Drag Race.
Yikes
Usually when we get the first look for the next episode of Drag Race, it’s a teasing affair that shows the queens debrief after last week’s episode and get geared up for a new week. It’s hardly the biggest moment of an episode. But this week, the preview shows the queens returning to the room to see the goodbye message left by Arrietty.
In her message, instead of wishing queens luck like the usually done thing, Arrietty said “As one smelly b*tch to another, Onya: Please brush your teeth.”

The queens are absolutely shocked at this behaviour, no more than Onya who is visibly upset. Jewels explains that Onya has spoken to her before privately, and said she has a condition which causes her bad breath and it’s something she’s super insecure about. Lexi Love says she told some of the girls she’s seeing a dentist to find out what’s going on in her mouth that causes it. Lexi also says in the Werk Room about the message “she had to take a low dig, and she did.”
Onya says “And that’s exactly why she deserved to go home. Because she’s a hateful ass b*tch.” Onya then cries her eyes out and opens up to the other queens, and it’s a really hard watch.
A lot of fan reaction to this has been understandably emotional – with many calling it villainous. One said they can no longer defend Arrietty anymore. Some have still maintained that Arrietty was just giving good TV – but it clearly crosses over a very personal line and it’s not nice seeing Onya so upset. Especially because she is normally fierce and very headstrong.
Arrietty responds to the Drag Race backlash
Arrietty tweeted “Onya and I are gucci. We’ve already had our talk in person and hashed it out. I love Onya. Period.”
She then followed up explaining to a fan “I genuinely never knew about her condition, she never told me. Whether ya’ll believe me or not, I wouldn’t write something like that if she opened up to me about it.”
Onya Nurve has responded to a post that said do not send Arrietty hate, but tip Onya instead with a link to her cash app and has since thanked fans for support and money kindly sent over to her.
