Eliot Donovan slams his villain edit on MAFS Australia that ‘wasn’t the whole story’

The, ahem, opinion-provoking MAFS Australia groom Eliot Donovan is clearly not impressed with the way he comes off on screen.

He complained the MAFS producers put too much emphasis on his admiration of marriage ideals from the 1950s. He told the Daily Mail Australia: “They really leaned into the whole 1950s thing, which wasn’t the whole story at all.”

Eliot Donovan thought it was unfair of the MAFS Australia producers to put so much emphasis on his list of “non-negotiables” when other MAFS contestants mention traits they look for in a partner.

“I mean, people go on about what they want in a partner all the time – whether it’s someone who ‘looks like they’ve done 20 to life”or has blue eyes and a big bum – but when I’m honest about my non-negotiables, it’s suddenly controversial. That doesn’t make sense to me.”

He continued, “I was surprised by the reaction to the whole non-negotiables thing. Most of the things I mentioned weren’t even physical; they were about values and personality.”

Eliot’s extensive list of “non-negotiables” included that his wife must be younger than him (and ideally under 25), not be into eating at nice restaurants, exercise frequently, have “feminine energy”, want someone to take care of them, and not be too interested in handbags.

He was also sad the producers cut out scenes which would have made him look better, such as the speech at his wedding to Lauren, and some of the deeper conversations they had. “There were moments where I thought, ‘That’s not how it played out.'”
