Gabby Petito: Who FBI agent Loretta Bush actually is, and why you can’t find her online

The latest American Murder documentary tells the tragic story of Gabby Petito’s murder, and everyone is obsessed with the FBI agent Loretta Bush.

She has blown up on TikTok as the “hero” of the documentary after speaking about her mission to find Brian and Gabby, but who actually is she?

Nobody can find any information about her online, and there’s actually a reason for that – it all comes down to her very strict job.

In the documentary, she’s referred to as “Loretta Bush” but that’s probably not her real name. She’s hiding her identity with a fake pseudonym.

FBI agents often use false names to protect their identity and reduce any potential risks, especially when they are working undercover.

The Gabby Petito case is no longer active, but she probably chose to use a fake name for privacy purposes and to protect herself in future cases.

As she is still actively working for the FBI, revealing her real name could compromise other cases she’s working on and put her at risk.

So, all we really know is that she’s an FBI Special Agent who works for the Tampa Division in Florida, but her exact job and role will be kept a secret.

As explained on the FBI website, their special agents play a key role in combating crimes such as gangs, fugitives, missing persons, kidnappings, and bank robberies.

They use their expertise to lead investigations and work with law enforcement partners to bring criminal offenders to justice.

“I don’t take my position as law enforcement for granted. Some of these stories are difficult, but getting closure for the family, getting answers, is what’s important to me,” she said in the documentary.

She then choked up at the end and said: “This story is unique, but I will tell you that there are so many other people out there missing, and… they are important too. So, my work is important. Victims’ lives are important.”

You can tell she has immense pride in what she does and has helped so many families get the justice they deserve.
