Omg guys, OnlyLancs is shutting down and we’re just as upset as you are

One of Lancaster’s beloved student confessions pages has announced this week that it will be “wrapping up the page” after five years of delivering secrets submitted by Lancaster students.

OnlyLancs (@onlylancs on Instagram) has amassed 12.3k followers during its reign, which is only 2.5k less than the actual Students’ Union page – and has uploaded 997 posts to the account, as of the announcement being shared.

The confessions come from students in all nine colleges and can be submitted via an anonymous Google Form. The same structure applies to a branch-off of the account, OnlyLancs After Dark (@onlylancsafterdark), which will also be closing as of the 1,000th post on OnlyLancs.

The anonymous admin announced that they find that “it’s not [been] the same” running the page since they graduated from the university and they have decided to hang their hat once they’ve reached the 1,000th post. They still plan on the occasional upload to “give students/graduates tips and advice” in the future.

The full statement said: “Hello Lancs. I hope Lent term’s going well. It is with a heavy heart that I announce I am wrapping up the page. I want to be clear. I love this page. It has meant everything to me. The support from the Lancaster University community has been immense, especially from the students that have made the page what it is today. (You, reading this. Thank you.) But I have now graduated and I’ve been trying to close this chapter of my life. And I can’t do that without personally moving on from the page. I’ve tried, running the page as I did during uni. But it’s not the same.
