We went to Glasgow Fight Night and here’s how it went
Here’s a play by play of a smashing night at SWG3 and why you should go to next month’s event
Like everyone I’m sure, I was starting to feel the November stresses of looming deadlines, a cold flat, and a dip in socials because everyone was in the same boat. So Glasgow Fight Night was something I was really looking forward to and it did not disappoint.
For a start it was a great excuse to dress up. The dress code was optional black tie and let me tell you, people went all out. With full suits, floor length dresses and heels as far as the eye could see I felt like I was at ball. Which when I had been living in jeans and a hoodie for weeks was great.
Now I am no boxing aficionado by any means, however, that did not detract from my ability to have a fantastic time. Boxing is of course a spectator sport and from the energy in the room you could certainly tell.
The event ran really smoothly, there was a schedule of all the fights and times released which was really helpful, though it was a little behind schedule.
Something I loved was the number of female fights, and when I say they brought their A game some of the fights with the loudest cheers and best punches were the women’s fights. It was split up really well alternating between men and women.
The walk-out songs were just excellent as well and that’s when the atmosphere really popped, seeing the next fighter coming out and the song they chose. Not to mention the commentator who really brought the energy.

I would definitely recommend this event as a great way to break up your semester. It’s in a great location, well organised and from a safety point of view everyone was ID’d entering the venue and bag searches carried out well which as a woman I love to see.
Tickets for the 19th March 2025 Glasgow Fight Night go on sale on the 7th February at 11am, if you want one be quick they sell out fast. The link to their Instagram can be found here, so keep an eye on that.
