Everything Mariah Carey has been up to since last Christmas, from jet setting to Las Vegas show
It’s been a busy year for the queen of Christmas
It’s December so Mariah Carey – the undisputed goddess of Christmas – has been living her best life in all shades of green, red, white and gold.
Though we are used to seeing (and hearing) her during the month of December, the same cannot be said for the rest of the year. But they don’t pop Mariah in the freezer to be thawed every festive season – so what does she do in the meantime?
Let’s take a look.
January
Mariah Carey saw the new year in with glitz and glamour, after all, just because Christmas is over doesn’t mean Mariah isn’t going to serve c**t. She spent the New Year in Aspen with her kids, sharing a compilation of moments set to her rendition of Auld Lang Syne.
Later in January, she performed at Saadiyat Nights in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, and halfway through the month she was still jumping into pools with her clothes on.
It’s always a party when the queen of Christmas is around.
February
Come February, Mariah Carey was honoured by the Recording Academy with a Global Impact Award.
“Thank you @recordingacademy @blackmusiccollective @harveymasonjr for the #BMCHonors Global Impact Award. This celebration was so powerful and beautiful. I think I cried about 3 times. Thank you,” she wrote on Instagram.
She then announced her Las Vegas residency, called The Celebration of Mimi, for later in the year. Though she failed to make the final cut, Mariah was also nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
February was a big month for new music, announcing a 30-minute anniversary edition and a remix of Yes, And? with Ariana Grande.
March
Most Read
Between announcing future performances and sharing a sneak peek at her Las Vegas show, Mariah spent much of March posing up a storm on Instagram. From St. Patrick’s Day to sunset snaps, she once again proved why she’s *that* girl.
April
April was a month of preparation for the queen of Christmas as she began the countdown to her Las Vegas debut. What initially started as an eight-date residency turned into one of the most highly demanded shows on the strip, so Dolby Live added two more legs.
It started on April 12 and is expected to run until February 2025, totalling 24 shows. Each show was sold out with celebrities like Tyra Banks and Heidi Klum in attendance.
May
Mariah Carey didn’t slow down in May. During a break from her residency, she headlined the Soul Beach Music Festival in Aruba. Later that month, she was honoured at the Fresh Air Fund spring benefit for her contributions to Camp Mariah which raised an impressive $1.9 million for the organisation.
May also saw the release of Mariah’s Made For Me remix and an Audible exclusive that detailed her personal songwriting process.
June
Mariah Carey sure does know how to market a holiday, and in June she brought her Rainbow to rainbowashing by celebrating the 25th anniversary of the album. Of course, this meant releasing exclusive merch that sold out in hours.
July and August
Following the obligatory celebration of July 4th early on in the month, she returned to The Celebration of Mimi where Olivia Rodrigo and Halle Berry attended.
She mused on Instagram: “I had the most fun with you this summer in Las Vegas on “The Celebration of Mimi”! Thank you to all who came out here even in 120 degrees. Thank you to my irreplaceable team – on and off stage, can’t wait to do this again in January 2025! Xoxo MC.”
By the end of August, the second leg of the residency had ended, so she turned her attention to the recently announced Christmas Time tour – she really is the hardest working woman out there. Her biggest holiday tour to date, it was set for 20 cities starting in November.
September
Fast approaching the festive season, Mariah Carey’s Instagram became awash in tones of green and red as she posted videos from her Christmas Time rehearsals.
“Back at work. It’s been a couple of rough weeks, but I appreciate everyone’s love and support so much and I can’t wait to see my fans in China & Brazil. Love you!” she said that month.
While performing in China, Mariah visited The Great Wall before heading over to São Paulo and Rio, Brazil, for even more performances.
October
Mariah Carey opened October with a funny Instagram video after people had asked whether it was time for Christmas. She told them “not yet”, but to keep their eyes peeled. Later that very same week, she made good on her promise by performing at the AMA 50th Anniversary Special.
She later posted an Instagram pic alongside the caption: “While it is definitely not time to listen to Christmas music yet. I wanted to share a glimpse of #MerryChristmas30 with you!”
Ever a respectable queen, she also took time away from her usual programming to promote the upcoming presidential election, urging people to get out and vote for Kamala Harris. We all know how that ended.
November
When November hit, Mariah dialled up the Christmas spirit by releasing a fun transitional video between Halloween and her obviously preferred holiday. Just a day later, she was in New York City to celebrate the unveiling of her Madame Tussuads waxwork.
November was also the month that Christmas Time kicked off, so Mariah’s Instagram was brimming with fun performance videos and behind-the-scenes activity.
