Five must do Christmas Eve activities: A guide
The time to ignore those assignments and deck the halls
Aah Christmas Eve, the day of festive TV, chocolate and last minute wrapping. With uni life being so hectic it’s important to make time for the nice festive moments, and Christmas Eve is one of them. So, you may ask, what are some festive feel good activities to do on the 24th?
1. Make a gingerbread house
I love a festive bake moment and a gingerbread house is a classic Christmas activity. Definitely within a uni budget, you can pick up a fairly inexpensive gingerbread house kit at most supermarkets that includes icing, sweets and the gingerbread. It’s a great activity with friends or family and can help pass the time on what feels like the slowest day of the year.
2. Wrap presents
Have you wrapped all your gifts? No. Have you started? No. Are they at least bought? Mostly. Whilst wrapping is fiddly and quite time consuming what better way to spend Christmas Eve than with with some chocolate, Tv and tape?
3. Go on a walk to look at the Christmas lights
This can be done walking round your local area and seeing what lights people have put up on their houses and high street or by attending one of the light experiences around the country.
4. Make a festive drink
A quick and simple way to help get you into the festive spirit! Make a hot chocolate, gingerbread latte or maybe even crack open a bottle of baileys.
5. Go to a Christingle service
A free and wholesome event put on by every local church. Have they switched from sweets to raisins? Yes, and I’m as outraged as you, but a Christingle service is usually a nice and festive service and a cute way to spend a little of the day on Christmas Eve.
