Erm, here’s how Scooter Braun is linked to the Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni lawsuit

Scooter is best known for his ongoing feud with Taylor Swift, Blake’s best friend

So, you’ve probably heard by now but Blake Lively suing Justin Baldoni for sexual harassment and allegedly orchestrating a smear campaign against her.

The actress has filed a lawsuit against her former It Ends With Us co-star and producer alleging sexual harassment by Justin, and attempts to “destroy” her career.

However, in a weird turn of events, Scooter Braun is embroiled in the drama.

Blake claimed that Justin used his PR team to “bury” the actress following the release of It Ends With Us, earlier this year.

In August, Justin hired Melissa Nathan, Johnny Depp’s former crisis PR representative, along with Jennifer Abel from RWA Communications, after a number of negative headlines were written about the actor due to his “feud” with Blake Lively.

But, what does this have to do with Scooter Braun?

Well, Scooter Braun is actually a part-owner of the PR company Melissa Nathan runs.

According to USA Today, Scooter part owns Hybe America, which is the majority stakeholder of The Agency Group, who Melissa works for.

Scooter, who famously managed Justin Bieber, is most well-known for his on-going feud with Blake’s best friend, Taylor Swift.

The feud began when Taylor announced Scooter had bought her songs in 2019, leading to the singer re-recording her albums. Taylor has a very close relationship with Blake with the two often publicly showing their love for each other.

Taylor is also mentioned in the court documents too, with the filing saying: “Planting stories about the weaponisation of feminism and how people in [Blake’s] circle like Taylor Swift, have been accused of utilising these tactics to ‘bully’ into getting what they want.”

Furthermore, Scooter also shared a TMZ article on his Instagram Story earlier this year about Blake. The article, about the actress spending time with Taylor in Rhode Island, was published at the same time she was receiving backlash from It Ends With Us’ promotion. On his Story, with a link to the article, he wrote: “How was I not invited to this? #laughalittle”

As we all know, during the press tour for It Ends With Us, there was backlash towards Blake over her promotion of the film. Critics said she focused on her personal brand, opposed to the themes of domestic violence shown in the movie. However, in her lawsuit, Blake claimed Justin’s PR team was behind this.

In texts shared by The New York Times, Justin Baldoni can be seen discussing his PR strategy with his team at the time of the film’s promotion. Justin said he wasn’t “in love” with their current strategy, with Melissa then being advised by Jennifer Abel that her and Justin need to be “tough”, adding: “He wants to feel like she can be buried”.

Melissa responded, saying: “We can’t write we will destroy her. Imagine if a document saying all the things that he wants ends up in the wrong hands.

“You know we can bury anyone.”

The Agency Group boss then continued by suggesting they use “threads of theories” to change how Blake Lively was perceived by the public. However, the texts do not say whether the team did this.

Other messages shared by Pop Faction also show Melissa saying: “We survived…we’ve confused people, so much mixed messaging. It’s actually really funny if you think about it.”

The Agency Group, Justin Baldoni and Scooter Braun have been contacted for comment but have not yet responded.
