You won’t believe how Macaulay Culkin got this scar from filming Home Alone

The set must have been feral

‘Tis the season, girlies. ‘Tis the bloody season. If you’re feeling as festive as I am right now, you will undoubtedly be in a Home Alone era – ready to binge the two utter classics. Lost In New York is obviously better, but you can’t have the frenzy of that without the original. Despite the fact that Home Alone came out years ago, there are still new details coming out about how the film was made and memories from the set, and Macaulay Culkin just shared one of the maddest yet about how he managed to get a scar on his finger that he still has to this day. And it’s wild.

In case you’re unaware, Macaulay Culkin is currently on a nostalgic little tour kind of promoting Home Alone, titled A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin. In these, he hosts a screening of Home Alone with a q&a after. In one such q&a with the New York Times, Macaulay Culkin explained how he got a scar in his finger on set.

Basically, he got the scar because Joe Pesci – his co-star who famously played the bumbling burglars Kevin faces – bit the finger of Macaulay Culkin when trying to scare him rehearsing a Home Alone scene.

Macaulay Culkin reminisced “‘He was trying to scare me. Thinking it would help the robber-victim dynamic, ‘he was like, I want to be menacing to this kid.” Rehearsing the specific scene where the bandit threatens to bite off Kevin McAllister’s fingers, Macaulay Culkin said Joe Pesci accidentally took it too far and chomped really hard – leaving Culkin with scar.

“I saw his face — and I’ve never, ever seen Joe Pesci actually scared,’ Culkin recalled. ‘Because he’s like, I just bit a kid!’”

I will actually never watch that scene again knowing that Macaulay Culkin got a scar from the accidental chomp in Home Alone. Wild.
