Pub over club – reasons why pubbing is so much better than clubbing
Sometimes, you just fancy a pub night especially when you’re trying to be responsible in exam season by socialising and not hanging the next day or perhaps not messing your sleep schedule which you’d rather spend revising than recovering. It’s like a 2-4-1 deal: socialise whilst getting your assignments in. So here’s all the many other reason why pubbing is better than clubbing.
It is so much cheaper!
Especially when you go out on a Friday or the weekends and clubs think they can overcharge you. Not only do you have to pay entry fees (which can easily cost you the same as a drink), but you also might have to get the spenny Uber back.
(Not so) hidden gem: if you don’t feel like drinking, I’ve heard Spy Bar offers lime and soda for less than 50p. Maybe I’ve tried it once or twice —that’s definitely a win for the wallet!
The Freedom to Get a Few Rounds In
Another great thing about pubbing is that it’s a lot easier to get a few rounds without breaking the bank. You can enjoy a couple of drinks, but make sure you don’t overdo it because—let’s be real—what starts as a casual pub can quickly escalate into an all-night clubbing session. Especially on a £2 Tuesday, when drinks are cheap, you might just find yourself at Hobo by the end of the night, wondering how it all happened…
No Long Queues for Drinks
There’s nothing more frustrating than queuing for ages in a club just to get ONE drink only for that to tempt you into buying way more than you intended. Next thing you know, you’re drunker than planned and way over budget- perhaps spent your weekly budget or even your food shop- when all you really wanted was to avoid the queue in the first place.
You Can Layer Up
No, “firming” anything to a pub and having ‘to drink to not feel the cold’ —that doesn’t even work, right?
It’s Good Any Time of the Week
Yes- guaranteed 7 days a week- even on a Sunday the pub is guaranteed to be good.

Need a study break in the middle of revision? The pub is the perfect pit stop. Or, let’s be honest, maybe you’ll head there after a long “session” in the library that involved more chatting and scrolling on TikTok than actual work. It’s fine, though; it’s the thought that counts, right?
You can socialise… to a certain extent
Instead, you can take your time chatting and gossiping. The downside? Sometimes, recently noted, is that pubs thought it was a perfect idea to play the music really loud making it feel more like a club.thought pubs were supposed to be chill.
Pub Quizzes
Sunday only means one thing – Pub quiz. From Spy to Osbornes, Soho, there’s plenty to choose from, and it’s not just about the drinking (although no one’s judging if it is).
