I got you! Everything we know about Arcane season three and future Netflix spin-offs

Actually buzzing

Arcane came to an end in November with the release of season two and the end of Jinx and Vi’s story, naturally, we all have burning questions about season three and potential future spin-offs.

If you’ve already binged the other adult animations available, you’re no doubt hoping to return to The League Of Legends universe for more explosions, chaos, and the comforting embrace of its star-studded voice cast. So when can you next expect that signature art style to appear on your Netflix screen?

Are we getting an Arcane season three?

After reports suggested that Arcane was originally set for five seasons on Netflix, the show’s creators Christian Linke and Alex Yee set the record straight. Essentially, in the words of Donald Trump, it was totally fake news.

“When we started building out the story after the pilot [that we showed internally at Riot], that’s when we were like ‘Okay, it’s going to be two seasons,'” Christian told TechRadar. “It was never the plan for it to last five seasons.”

Sadly, that means we aren’t getting any direct continuations of the Arcane story.

Don’t panic, there’s more chaos on the way

Mel Medarda

In a Twitch interview with Necrit94 earlier this year, Christian Linke revealed that the next spinoff series has “already [been] in development for about a year” and should continue some of the stories we grew attached to in Arcane.

“We’re really going wide, we’re looking at every region and we really now have the ability to build a slate to tell many more stories — and continue some of them,” he said.

The most likely focal point going forward is Mel Medarda, an original character introduced in Arcane alongside her brute of a mother Ambessa. Both have been incredibly popular amongst the established League of Legends fanbase, so much so that Ambessa has been added to the official game and her daughter is soon to follow.

Such theories also fall in line with Christian’s commenting on future spin-offs being set in “Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia”, the first of which is Mel’s home turf. In the final moments of Arcane, we also got our first glimpse of Swain, the visionary ruler of Noxus.

Even outside of Noxus, the League of Legends universe is huge and ever-expanding, a literal goldmine for future Netflix content. Providing the next instalment performs as well as the first, adult animations could have a very bright future.
