Where you’ve heard the cast of Arcane before, from Harry Potter star to Big Hero Six
The Arcane cast is stacked!
Arcane has become a worldwide phenomenon despite the enormous gap between seasons one and two. Still, there’s no judgment as not only is the animation style beyond belief, but the voice cast are some of the most in-demand actors in 2024.
Arcane is an animated show that pulls lore and champions from the hit online game League of Legends. The show itself has a rare 100 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of the most successful Netflix projects to date. Though we know it is ending following the release of act three this weekend, with over 140 champions and lore that rivals Lord of the Rings, spin-offs and sequels are already in the works.
If you’ve enjoyed hearing the melodic tones of characters like Jinx, Vi, and Caitlyn Kiramman, their respective actors already have a solid bank of work under their belts for you to enjoy.
1. Ella Purnell
Ella Purnell plays the crazed Jinx in Arcane, a sweet-hearted girl who became a maniac after years of being beaten down and oppressed. Even if you don’t recognise her face, I guarantee you’ve seen Ella in other projects, as she is quickly becoming the actor to beat in 2024.
Most recently, Ella fronted Prime Video’s Fallout series, which is also based on a best-selling game of the same name. Fallout currently sits with a 94 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes.
You might have also seen her in Yellowjackets, Sweetpea, Star Trek: Prodigy, and movies like Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and Kick-Ass 2.
2. Hailee Steinfeld
As the other lead of the Arcane cast alongside Ella, Hailee Steinfeld portrays criminal-turned-hero Vi. Though hotheaded and impulsive, her fight to get Jinx back has captivated audiences since the show’s inception in 2021.
Most Read
Hailee has been a familiar face in Hollywood for a few years now, racking up millions of followers on Instagram as she acts in projects like the Pitch Perfect franchise, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and Bumblebee.
After debuting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Hawkeye’s side-kick Kate Bishop, Hailee will also appear in huge ensemble projects Avengers: Doomsday, Avengers: Secret Wars, and Young Avengers.
3. Katie Leung
Katie Leung’s brilliant portrayal of Caitlyn Kiramman brought her front and centre in the first acts of season two. Torn between duty, friendship, and the corrupt politics of her city, Caitlyn’s actions could have disastrous consequences in act three.
Outside of the Arcane cast, you might recognise Katie from her time in Harry Potter as Cho Chang, Bridgerton, The Wheel of Time, and most recently, Nightsleeper.
4. Kevin Alejandro
Kevin Alejandro had hordes of acting credits before he first set sights on his character of Jayce in Arcane, appearing in projects like Fire Country, Lucifer, True Blood, Ugly Betty, Arrow, and Sons of Anarchy.
Jayce will play a central part in the upcoming act three and the ramifications of his hextech could be felt in the spin-offs and sequels still to come.
5. Ellen Thomas
Ellen Thomas has been widely applauded by both critics and the audience for her portrayal of powerhouse warlord Ambessa Medarda. A woman of unshakeable confidence, Ambessa will stop at nothing to dominate her enemies, both on the battlefield and in fierce debate.
Ellen is a quintessential British actress, having appeared in shows and movies like EastEnders, Johnny English Reborn, Silent Witness, Death in Paradise, Doctors, and Law & Order: London.
6. Yuri Lowenthal
Considering Arcane is a revolutionary animation, it’s no surprise that animated veteran Yuri Lowenthal is included in the Arcane cast. He voices characters Mylo, Stall Holder, and various background characters.
In his long career, Yuri has lent his voice to animations like Big Hero Six, Ben 10 projects, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, every The Swan Princess film, and Huntik: Secrets & Seekers.
7. Reed Lorenzo Shannon
Reed Lorenzo Shannon’s character Ekko has received rave reviews amongst League of Legends players, which is especially impressive when you consider his minimal experience in the acting field.
The 24-year-old has only been in the acting world for a few years, pulling in credits on The Wilds, Canal Street, Box Brown, and Station 19.
It’s reasonable to say that his schedule is going to be packed following the show’s conclusion.
