Here are the best Christmas drinks Lincoln has to offer this festive season
Is there any better time than Christmas to down litres of caffeinated, sugary milk?
It’s Christmas so now is the time to engage in little treat culture and we all need a pick me up at this time of year and why not start with a cheeky drink?
Well, if you’re wondering where to go to get said cheeky drink, then look no further has The Lincoln Tab has scouted out the best places for Christmassy beverages.
So, here are four great festive options to warm you up while you wait out the last few weeks of term.
Thor’s German Hot Chocolate: 4/5
Despite the uninspiring brown corrugated cup, this hot chocolate is as close humans will come to the 1200 year old recipe for The Santa Clause. It was thick, full of real chocolate and topped with marshmallows the size of a baby’s fist.
The portion was on the smaller side for the £4 price tag but it was so rich that you don’t really need anymore. Also, bonus points for setting- the campfire and the Christmas tent are magical.
Costa Caramel Nutcracker Latte: 3/5
The Costa festive range is almost it’s own tradition at this point with avid fans waiting for 1st November to roll around so they can guzzle down whatever the coffee gods decide to give them (we are those people).
This year’s offering is the Caramel Nutcracker, it’s slightly sweet with something of hazelnut. If you’re looking for something subtlety festive, this might be your perfect drink. The red and green sprinkles are a nice touch but I don’t think Father Christmas would be putting this on his North Pole menu.
Greggs Gingerbread Latte: 4/5
Most Read
This is the cheapest option on the list at just £2.50 for a regular.
Greggs’ Christmas range holds up against the main high street coffee chains with choices such as Mint Mocha and Salted Caramel Latte. But, the gingerbread latte is probably their best. It’s already a classic and is neither overpowering nor too sweet.
At this student-friendly price point, it’s a great option for when you’re wandering up Steep Hill trying to find a present for your mum.
Coffee Depot’s Winter Spiced Tea: 4.5/5
Although this isn’t specifically Christmas, it definitely is seasonal. It was hot, spiced just right and smelt exactly like the Christmas candle aisle in TK Maxx.
Coffee Depot is at the end of the overpass which runs through campus so it’s convenient for a mid-lecture festive treat. With its cloves, cinnamon and cardamon, this is the perfect non-denominational winter drink.
These are just a sample of some of the festive drinks available around Lincoln at the moment. Why not pick one up as an end of semester treat? We know you’d enjoy them.
