The secret life of the I’m A Celeb rangers who constantly patrol the camp – even at night

They are literally there 24/7

On I’m A Celeb, you’ve probably heard people mention the rangers, but who actually are they and what do they do?!

Ant and Dec call out to the ranger to bring the next course during the eating trials, but apart from that they are never really seen.

Their identity is kept pretty hidden because it’s just a fancy name for the production staff who work on the show.

They’re called rangers to keep with the jungle theme, but they’re just the ones who help out and make sure the series runs smoothly.

However, on top of setting up trials, they do have some secret duties you probably had no idea about.

After leaving the camp this week, Dean McCullough revealed that the rangers are patrolling the camp for the entire night.

He explained that he woke up in the middle of the night because he really to go to the toilet.

The Radio 1 DJ accidentally walked towards the fire because the camp is so dark – and a ranger saved him.

“I was half asleep. I got up and I was walking closer and closer to the fire. It was out but it was still hot,” he said on the after-show.

“This random arm just appeared in the darkness. This big beefy arm. And he pulled me and walked me up to the dunny.”

Dean revealed the rangers are literally “watching everything” through the cameras 24/7, even while they are sleeping.

Their role is primarily health and safety, always ready to step in if there is an emergency.

It’s also the rangers’ job to catch any dangerous animals that appear in the camp.

Last year, they had to rush in when a venomous small-eyed snake was spotted right next to Sam Thompson’s bed.

‘The small eyes snake slithered in and was seen venturing near to Sam,” a source told The Mirror.

“Luckily the rangers spotted it and were quick to act and swiftly removed the snake, without even waking Sam or the other celebrities.”

The insider explained that before entering the show, the celebrities “receive talks from the rangers and a medic” about the dangerous animals that could be around.

“But of course, it goes without saying they are under constant watch by the experienced rangers who know exactly when they need to jump to action,” they said.

“On this occasion, there was no way the snake would be left in there and danger was quickly averted for Sam and the rest of the celebs.”

Kiosk Kev, who replaced Kiosk Keith, is a ranger too – but he’s the only one who has a nickname.
