Liam Payne’s funeral is happening today on Wednesday 20th November. The former One Direction singer tragically died on 17th October after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires.

The funeral’s location is deliberately being kept secret

The singer’s funeral is private, so the media isn’t reporting on exactly where it’s taking place. The funeral is at a stone English country church in the Home Counties. Early this morning, a florist decorated the church with white roses. Private security have arrived.

Who is at Liam Payne’s funeral?

Liam Payne’s funeral is only for his family and close friends, including his parents Geoff and Karen, and his older sisters Nicola and Ruth.

All four of Liam Payne’s former One Direction bandmates – Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik – are at the funeral. Harry Styles arrived with James Cordon in a BMW.

Liam Payne’s ex-girlfriend Cheryl is at the funeral. Her fellow Girls Aloud singers,  Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts are also there.

Liam Payne’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy was one of the first people to arrive at the church. She was spotted talking to Damian Hurley – the 22-year-old son of Elizabeth Hurley.

The music producer Jamie Scott has also arrived at the funeral. He is the only producer to have worked on every One Direction album. Jamie Scott helped write some of their songs, including Story of My Life and Drag Me Down.

The BBC Radio 2 host Scott Mills, the footballer Robbie Keane and the presenter Adrian Chiles are there.

The One Direction bandmates previously paid tribute to Liam Payne on social media.

Their joint statement said, “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly. The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever.”

On top of the carriage were red flowers spelling out “son” and blue flowers spelling out “daddy”.

Fake videos supposedly of the funeral are circulating online

In the last few days, people have posted TikToks supposedly of Liam Payne’s funeral. The videos include pictures of vigils which fans held in different countries. Some TikToks also use completely out-of-context clips of One Direction members and Prince William. These videos aren’t real, because the funeral is only happening today.

Some media outlets have reported that Liam Payne was going to have a very large funeral in a cathedral in the West Midlands, and thousands of One Direction fans were planning on lining the streets of Wolverhampton to watch a funeral procession. This information now appears to be outdated, because the funeral is happening at a small church in the Home Counties.

Fans have held vigils for Liam Payne all across the world. About a thousand people gathered in Hyde Park in October to lay flowers and sing One Direction songs. People placed flowers, letters and pictures outside the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires where Liam Payne died. Fans have also been leaving tributes St Peter’s Collegiate Church in Liam Payne’s hometown Wolverhampton.
