Day in the life of a third year Warwick student
Cries in third year student…
As a third year student who is well into the first term of uni, I like to think that I have a good daily routine (or at least am trying to have one!) Gone are the days of lying in bed till noon and going out nearly every night. Keep reading to find out what I got up to on a normal uni day as a third year English student. Really, this is just my way of romanticising my life so that maybe I can actually get my work done (crying).
Morning – 9.00 – 10.00
Possibly the worst moment of the day: Waking up early from 10 consecutive alarms going off (can you tell I’m not a morning person?)
I like to get ready for the day by making my bed, brushing my teeth and getting dressed to start off what is hopefully going to be a productive day.
Today, I had some Weetabix with fruit for breakfast (health is wealth) and of course started the day with a coffee.
Late morning – 10.00-12.00
As I luckily didn’t have any lectures in the morning today, I got on with some work and reading for the week. As it’s mid-term, it is no surprise that the workload has ramped up and so I had to crack on. Of course, I did manage to squeeze in a break to chat with my flatmate (it is needed for our sanity).
Lunchtime – 1pm
I was at home for lunch today, so my flatmate and I made lunch together which is a great break and saved us some money! We made tuna melts which went down a treat whilst we had a little study break.

Going to campus – 2pm
After lunch, I made the trek onto campus to attend my lectures and meetings. I had a dissertation meeting for half an hour to help me get started on research and planning (scary!) Then, after an absolute struggle to find a seat to work, I eventually managed to find somewhere to get in a very tiny amount of reading before heading to my lecture.
Gym time
I had a gym class with my friend at 5pm which was a great way to get some time away from the laptop but at the cost of my legs hurting for the next 24 hours.
Dinnertime
I was staying on campus till late and met up with some friends for dinner at none other than the Warwick classic: the Dirty Duck (iykyk). I got the katsu burger which was amazing and of course finished with some desert.
Cocktail Society masterclass
As a member of the exec, I attended the first masterclass of the year (woooo) where everyone made some classic cocktails. We were taught how to make an amaretto sour, a moscow mule and a daiquiri (one of my favourites). I stayed until about 10pm before heading home with some friends.
Tea and bedtime
After a long day, it was finally time for bed. I did manage to squeeze in an episode of the vampire diaries with my flatmate (we are both obsessed). Then, I had a sleep tea and got into bed ready to start again tomorrow.
