Iceland has partnered up with Deliveroo to give Leeds students free mini freezers

The giveaway is happening between 12pm and 3pm today!

Iceland has partnered up with Deliveroo to give away free mini freezers to students in Leeds.

The supermarket is handing out 30 freezers today between 12pm and 3pm at The Food Warehouse by Iceland, located at Unit 6, Kirkstall Shopping Park, Leeds. However, get down there quick as once they’re gone, they’re gone.

To be eligible for one of these freezers, students simply need to present a valid form of student ID. They will also be limited to one per person.

Iceland is doing this giveaway as recent research by the supermarket showed 57 per cent of Leeds students each have one freezer drawer or less in their accommodation, with 36 per cent saying they can’t buy food they like, including frozen vegetables, due to the lack of space.

The data also found that one in 20 students share a single freezer with five or more people, which is why Iceland said it wants to help relieve students of this problem.

However, it’s not just food that students want to use the freezer for, as Iceland found 18 per cent of students want the space to chill their pre-drinks before heading on a night out.

Mike Ordish, Head of Delivery Partners at Iceland Foods, said: “Our research shows that the F.F.S crisis is a major frustration for students – especially in cities like Leeds, which is why we’re giving away mini freezers to help.

“This way, students can shop our value-packed frozen range to their heart’s content. Plus, with Iceland now available on Deliveroo across our full estate, including exclusive brands, they can conveniently access quality food…and keep it away from their housemates!”

Iceland is also partnering with Deliveroo to give one person a year’s worth of Iceland shopping for free on the app! You can find more information about the competition here.
