Here’s a complete Emily in Paris timeline breakdown, with all the characters’ ages explained
Proof that chaos and drama doesn’t stop in your 30s
After the recent release of the first half of season four (still in disbelief we have to wait for a part two), it’s crazy to think Emily and co have been causing chaos for four whole seasons now. But contrary to what you might believe, and what might make sense, Emily hasn’t actually been in Paris for four years and the seasons aren’t actually set one year apart.
Here’s a breakdown of all the Emily in Paris character ages and a timeline of when the show is actually meant to be set.
By season four, Emily has only been in Paris for nine months
With the first season airing in 2020, it might surprise you to learn the show’s timeframe is a lot shorter than four years. Emily falls into her glamorous Parisian job in September/October time, while the recent season’s tennis game at Roland-Garros stadium takes us to late May/early June, as The French Open always occurs then. So this means that the first three seasons span over a short nine months.
Emily is 29
Out of all the Emily in Paris character ages, Emily’s is hardest to place.
In 2020, Lily Collins told Vogue she believed Emily to be “fresh out of college” and “[in] her first year after graduation”. But it turns out that she’s actually a lot older than Lily thought. While her guess was “22-ish”, it is subtly revealed in season two that she is actually 29, when she sees a birthday shoutout from Vaga Jeune reading, “29 years Jeune!”. Evidently the boy drama never stops.
Gabriel
Most Read
While Lucas Bravo, who plays Gabriel is 36 years old in real life, Gabriel’s age is never confirmed in the show. However, it is generally believed that he is one or two years older than Emily, making him 31 or 32 throughout all four seasons.
Alfie
The British heartthrob, born and raised in London, is believed to be 30 years old by fans of the show. And after bingeing the first part of season four, may I take this opportunity to say, justice for Alfie.
Camille
The actress who portrays Camille, confusingly also named Camille, is 30 years old. It is likely that her character is of a similar age as she is thought to be close in age to Gabriel.
Sylvie
The iconic chief marketing officer is likely to be in her mid to late fifties when Emily arrives in Paris. However, in reality, Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu is 61. Oh, to age so well.
Julien
Julien, who’s kind of killing it this season, seems to be similar in age to his work friend, and sometimes rival, Emily. While it is never confirmed, our guess is that he’s 29 or 30.
Luc
Luc is seemingly a bit older than his work colleagues, Emily and Julien. It is likely that he joined Savoir around the same time as Sylvie. French actor and writer, Bruno Gouery, turned 49 this summer but with Luc’s youthful nature it’s hard to tell how old his character is. It’s likely that Luc is in his late 40s.
Mindy
The gorgeous Ashley Park is 33 years old in real life, but Mindy said to be a bit younger. Her character takes on a variety of roles from business school dropout and babysitter, to future Eurovision star. The way in which Mindy and Emily constantly relate to each other suggest they are similar in age so Mindy is probably 28 or 29.
Nicolas
In the series, Nicolas is three years older than Mindy. In season three, Nicolas tells Benoît that during their boarding school days he knew Mindy existed but “when you’re that age, three years is a giant gulf” to which Benoît replies, “but at this age, three years is nothing, right?”. Whilst that was awkward to sit through, it firmed our suspicions that Nico is older than Mindy and is likely in his early thirties.
Ironically, Paul Forman, the actor and model who plays the prince of JVMA, is three years younger than Ashley, who is his actual girlfriend in real life. Paul and Ashley seem to agree with Benoît’s statement and we totally support it.
Benoît
The swoon-worthy Kevin Dias is in his early 30s and it’s likely that Benoît is too. His and Mindy’s relationship has been up and down but we can’t wait to see what part two of season four brings.
