JoJo Siwa claims Nickelodeon ‘blackballed’ her immediately after she came out as queer

JoJo Siwa is set to appear in Demi Lovato’s upcoming documentary about child stars, and she’s made some shocking claims about how Nickelodeon treated her after she came out as queer in 2021.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, JoJo explained that her relationship with the company completely changed after she came out, despite her being signed with it since she was 13. She explained: I basically got blackballed from the company.”

JoJo Siwa then alleges that the president of Nickelodeon called her directly to tell her she’d have to call every retailer that sold her merch and say she’s “not going crazy.” She says he asked her: “What are we going to tell the kids?” and she replied: “That I’m happy?”

He then allegedly told JoJo: “Well, you need to have a call with every retailer [that sells JoJo Siwa merch] and tell them that you’re not going crazy.” She claims she then had to call Target, Walmart and Claire’s about the situation.

Since JoJo’s shocking claims about the company, Nickelodeon has denied her claims. In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, a spokesperson said: “We are unaware of the incident JoJo is referencing and she was certainly not blackballed by Nickelodeon.”
