Justin Baldoni admits ‘complex personalities’ caused ‘friction’ on set of It Ends With Us

Justin Baldoni has subtly addressed the drama that allegedly happened on set during the filming of It Ends With Us, admitting “complex personalities” caused “friction.”

The film has been dogged with accusations of major drama going down on set between director Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively, with one resurfaced video even appearing to show them arguing.

One source even revealed to People the apparent extent of the feud, admitting: “All is not what it seems. There is much more to this story. The principal cast and [author] Colleen Hoover will have nothing to do with him.”

And now in a new interview with ELLE UK, Justin Baldoni has seemingly addressed some of the tougher moments he had to go through with the cast of It Ends With Us. He explained: “It’s very challenging to act and direct, and especially with a project like this. There was a lot of pressure playing such a complex role like Ryle and, of course, as a filmmaker, you’re always navigating complex personalities.

“There are all these things that happen every day on set, there’s always friction that happens when you make a movie like this. Then at the end of the day, it’s that friction, I believe, that creates the beautiful art. Everything in life needs friction to grow. And look, we created something so beautiful and so magical, and it was hard, and it was worth it at the same time. And I grew so much as both a filmmaker, an actor and as a person throughout this experience.”

But whatever did happen on set, it seems it’s put Justin off of wanting to return to direct the sequel, as he confessed he thought Blake Lively was “ready to direct.” Speaking to Entertainment Tonight about whether he would direct the next film, he said: “I think Blake Lively’s ready to direct. That’s what I think.”

If that’s not some serious subtle shade then I don’t know what is.
