Unfollowed by cast and writer room drama: All the messy It Ends With Us drama explained

I’ve never seen a movie cause so much drama before it even came out

The very popular and controversial Colleen Hoover novel It Ends With Us finally made it to screens after being announced it would become a movie five years ago, but the novel isn’t the only controversial part of the film’s release: It seems every possible drama has gone down from the writer’s room to the red carpet premiere. I’ve genuinely never seen so much drama surround a film before it even released. In celebration of its first day in the cinemas, here’s a deepdive into all aspects of this crazy drama.

Writer’s room drama

There’s been so much talk online about what went down in the writer’s room for the It Ends With Us movie. With such a hands-on cast, it’s no surprise that tensions have been seriously high. So apparently, both Justin Baldoni and Blake Lively had their own film cuts, and after showing it to audiences, Baldoni’s was a clear fan favourite but the power of Ryan Reynolds was enough to sway Colleen Hoover into choosing their version. Ryan “basically took over the movie and buddied up to author Colleen Hoover to see that their cut won.”

Ryan Reynolds’s heavy involvement in the film

It’s a fact that Reynolds was a big part of the film, and on set, even if the drama has no solid foundation. Fans online seem to think it’s a bit strange that Ryan got so involved with the film, even claiming to have written the iconic rooftop scene.

In an interview with E! News, Blake mentioned that Ryan “works on everything I do I work on everything he does. So his wins, his celebrations are mine and mine are his.” Power couple or overbearing? It’s the question X users are rife in debate about.

Blake Lively promoting her hair brand instead of addressing domestic violence

Fans have commented on the visible lack of discussion on the core theme of the film, which is domestic violence. Sure, the film has apparently been made a lot ‘lighter’ to combat the heavy themes of the novel, but it seems Blake spent more time at the premiere talking about her hair brand than she did actually addressing the issue.

Colleen Hoover unfollowing Justin Baldoni

You might think it’s super weird that Colleen Hoover, the literal author of It Ends With Us, is not following one of the stars of her movie, but there’s more to it than meets the eye. She has UNFOLLOWED Justin, but remains following Blake and even Ryan. Strange, huh? There’s definitely something going on that we don’t know about.

The rest of the cast refusing to talk about Justin

This clip from the It Ends With Us premiere is actually insane and proves there’s definitely some production tension going on somewhere. Talk about avoiding the question!

Justin’s only had glowing things to say about his co-stars, especially Blake, but she has remained silent on the topic of him altogether. In an interview with People Magazine, he said: “She’s a creative force. She’s an executive producer on the film, and she is so brilliant. And I believe that her performance is going to help so many women feel seen and showcase this unique experience in a way that I don’t believe I’ve seen in another film.”

He also directly praised Blake’s acting skills: “I knew she could do it in a really special, subversive way.” Yet Blake has seemingly little to respond with.

Oscar nomination drama allegations on TikTok

These are all just rumours, but it seems somebody has taken to TikTok to suggest that Blake and Ryan are using It Ends With Us as potential for an Oscar nomination. This tea is genuinely about to boil over.

Replying to @Sofie Moon Scout interesting theory. I could see this (or more so elements) of this being true This is all speculation. Please wait for media confirmation on anything being said/theorized. #itendswithus #ryanreynolds #blakelively #colleenhoover #justinbaldoni

Is it all just a publicity stunt?

People have likened the situation to the chaos of the Don’t Worry Darling pre-release drama, which could eventually be topped by this. But, we all know how well that did for the box office. People on X are already making memes out of the drama, comparing it to its eventful predecessor.
