Erm, a TikTok influencer just drank straight from the Seine, claiming it’s ‘fresh water’

If fresh means particles of sewage then sure!

Right, unless you’ve been living under a literal rock you will have heard all the reports that perhaps the Seine isn’t the cleanest river in the whole world, and obviously a TikTok influencer heard that and thought, ‘I’m sure that means it’s 100 per cent safe to drink.’

So surprise surprise, yet again another TikTok influencer has done something that seems to lack any form of basic common sense by deciding to drink directly out of the River Seine in Paris. Yikes. To make matters even worse, she only drank it because she claimed it was “fresh water”, miss girlie I’m sorry but it’s literally murky.

While the original TikTok has been deleted, another user dueted the video as a kind PSA that no you definitely should not drink the water. She has blurred her face and username so I have absolutely no clue who she actually is but perhaps that’s for the best. I mean we do all make mistakes but this is really something else…

We see the influencer explain that it’s her last day in Paris, so she wants to make the most of it by having a rejuvenating, and probably slightly toxic, swim in the Seine. Whilst she admits she’s having “second thoughts” she realises you “only live once” and starts getting ready for her dip. She strips off into her very coquette pink swimsuit and for some reason, she decides to just keep her shoes on. Anything for the aesthetic I guess?

But the most jaw-dropping moment comes when the influencer emerges from the river, and willingly scoops up a massive amount of water in her hands and drinks it. I’m not talking about a small drop here, this TikTok influencer genuinely drank probably a cupful of Seine water. And listen I’m not on the health board but the river has actually been off limits to swimmers for the past 100 years because of “unsafe” pollution levels. But yeah, I’m sure drinking it is absolutely fine. After all, she claims it’s actually “fresh water” so that makes it all fine.

And she almost certainly drank a small amount of sewage as Nicole Iovine Nicole Iovine, M.D., Ph.D., chief epidemiologist, chief quality officer – UF Health in Paris revealed: “Like a lot of older cities, the pipes [in Paris] that carry sewage and storm water are the same pipes, as opposed to separate pipes in newer cities. When there’s a lot of rain, those pipes can go over capacity and then there’s runoff that ends up in the Seine or other bodies of water.” I mean the water is almost brown, surely that’s a big enough hint you shouldn’t drink it??

Other users were understandably absolutely shocked at her behaviour, commenting: “jaw DROPPED when she drank it”, with another writing: “SHE DRANK IIIITTTTTTT ???????? THE FACE I JUST MADE AS A FRENCH PERSON.” I genuinely hope she’s okay but also, please don’t drink random river water.
