A man has been arrested after stalking Emma Watson as she studies at the University of Oxford.

Chad Michael Busto, an American man, flew over to the UK with only a sleeping bag, £800, and was sleeping in an Oxford church. He said he was visiting the English department to “gain information” about the Harry Potter actress.

The police were called after locals heard him asking questions about her.

He told The Sun: “I visited the English department and spoke to people. I went to the main admissions centre trying to gain information. I was trying to connect with Emma Watson. However, the claim was made about me because I was asking around. But it was not made by Emma herself.

He added: “I was arrested in a square close to a Starbucks. I would have tried to talk to her about the big case that I have won. They are illegally detaining me and I have no idea when I’ll be allowed to leave. Police have my possessions. I’m on the run, there’s a danger to my life.”

Police confirmed an American man, age 44, was arrested and held on suspicion of stalking and released under investigation. He is currently being held at Colnbrook Immigration Centre near Heathrow.

When asked what he would have done if he met Emma, he said: “I would have tried to talk to her about the big case that I have won.” The man claims to have won a 2021 Federal case declaring the US justice system illegal.

But this is not the first time the man has been arrested over Emma Watson. Last September, he was arrested for allegedly barging into a New York fashion show dressing room and shouting he wanted to marry Emma. But he said the “statements were taken out of context.” “I was shouting something and, yes, it was to get her attention. It kind of worked in the way I wanted,” he added.

Emma Watson is currently studying for a part-time Master’s degree in creative writing at Oxford. She was pictured at Oxford’s Matriculation ceremony (where students officially enrol at the university) and other students on Emma’s course say she attends a handful of lectures, alongside her security team, and does the rest online. The rest of her student life is kept fairly private.

She was however recently confirmed to be dating a fellow Oxford student. Kieran Brown is a fellow student at Oxford, currently studying for a PhD in 19th-century literature and economics. They went public a few weeks ago after being pictured kissing in Oxford. A source told The Sun: “Emma is studying creative writing and his thesis is all about literary theory — so they have a lot to talk about. She looks so loved up with Kieran.”
