Revealed: Exactly who in the Love Island 2024 cast was scouted and who applied
Joey has said he wasn’t approached and actually fully applied?!
Every year we wonder who from the cast of Love Island actually applied for the show and who was scouted, and finally know what was the case for the 2024 Islanders.
It’s become a thing now that most of the singles who end up in the villa get approached in their Instagram DMs, and are already semi-famous influencers, or move in similar circles to people who have been on the show before. Bonus points if they actually know a few Islanders, or if their ex has already been approached by producers.
Here is a breakdown of who in the cast of Love Island 2024 was scouted, and who actually applied to be part of the show this year.
Who in the cast of Love Island 2024 actually applied to be on the show?
Despite it becoming quite a regular thing for cast members to be scouted, a few Love Island 2024 Islanders did actually apply to be on the show. Mimii was one, as she said ahead of the show: “The pool in Portsmouth is not giving. I’ve tried dating, speaking to people on social media and it just hasn’t been successful. Applying was a spontaneous thing, I didn’t expect to get here!”
Nicole has also spoken about applying to be on the show, and said she did so when she was scrolling through her socials and saw an advert. “I was scrolling through social media and I think it was an advert ‘apply now’, so literally just applied, thought nothing of it, didn’t think anything and then the next day I had a phone call,” she said. “So, yeah, it was quite quick!”

In a really wild turn of events, the only other cast member who has spoken about applying is Joey Essex. Hmm, not sure if I believe that one. In an interview before the show, he said he wasn’t approached by show bosses, but instead applied to take part. “I just want someone to like me for me and now from what they see on TV,” he said.
And who was scouted for Love Island 2024?
Surprise surprise, it seems a lot of the Love Island 2024 cast were scouted for the show, much more than who applied. When they were dumped, Ronnie and Harriett confirmed they were both scouted, and it seems as though Love Island has been after them for a while.
“I was scouted, I didn’t apply,” Harriett said. “I got scouted through Instagram.” She said she had been “asked quite a few times” to do the show, and added: “A couple of years ago I was really close to doing it but I never did. Obviously this year I decided to.”
Ronnie added he was scouted through Instagram, too. He said his connections with Olivia Attwood were how he got onto the radar of Love Island producers. “Since she’s been on it, I’ve had a message probably every year to do it. I just feel like this was the right time in my life to go and find someone and yeah, that’s why I did it,” he said.
Jess and Hugo have come off the show and also seemingly confirmed they were scouted, too. Jess gave an insight into the other cast members as well, and said “everyone” who she asked about it “was approached”.

“I don’t actually think anyone that I spoke to did actually apply, I think everyone was approached,” she told Closer Online. She added that production would tell people off in the villa for talking about the process, but said: “The gist of it was I don’t think many people did apply.”
So from this we can assume the big names who are left such as Ciaran, Matilda, Sean, Ayo, Jess S, Jessy and Grace were all approached.
Trey has said he manifested getting into the cast, so who knows what that means

Bombshell Trey has posted on Instagram where he talked about how he got on the show, and said he manifested his spot in the cast. I’m not sure if this means he was scouted or applied, or if he just turned up to the villa and convinced them to let him in?
“It’s been in the pipeline for years, and by pipeline I mean my visualisations and using the power of manifestations,” he said. “I’m manifesting the life I desire, creating opportunities on that positive pathway.” He then said he was journals and vision boards to prove it, and said he’s done drawings of his ideal life. “It’s all manifested itself true at the age of 24,” he said.
