Jordan North has quit his prime spot on Radio 1, and it’s just been revealed he is being replaced by Made in Chelsea’s Jamie Laing.

Jordan North has quit Radio 1 after 10 years with the main BBC station, and has not yet revealed why he has departed. Replacing Jordan is a huge deal for Jamie Laing, who has now got a huge spot on the station after previously working with the BBC on Radio 1’s 6 Degrees podcast and filling in for Mollie King when she was off on maternity.

On the news, Jamie Laing said of his new opportunity on Radio 1 replacing Jordan North “I’ve loved every minute that I’ve been on air with Radio 1 in recent years, so to be joining Vick on Drivetime is just incredible. To be working with Vick is an absolute dream so I’m beyond excited to get started and keep listeners company on their journeys home.”

Radio 1 head Aled Haydn Jones said in a statement: “I’m so excited to officially welcome Jamie to the Radio 1 family. From his hugely popular BBC podcast to his appearances on the network, our young audiences have loved him. His infectious energy and love for music and culture will bring an exciting new element to Drivetime, I can’t wait for people to hear all of the exciting new ideas Vick and Jamie have lined up.”

The Jordan North departure is going to be a huge change – he’s one of the most well loved stars from the station and his fame and profile has grown more since he won I’m A Celeb. “Jordan has been an amazing presenter and a valued colleague at Radio 1, and I’m so proud of his journey with us,” Alex Jones said.

“He has always connected with the Radio 1 audience through his shows and projects, as witnessed by the huge amount of money raised for Comic Relief during his rowing trip from London to Burnley.
