Ok where is the ‘Once there was a way’ sound trending on TikTok actually from?
My FYP needs peace
The latest song to absolutely rampage through my TikTok For You Page is “Once there way a way to get back homeward”, and if your FYP is anything like mine you currently will be spending your time scrolling having the musical theatre tinged ballad belted into your ears alongside the glamour filter. But what actually is the sound and where is it from? Here’s all you need to know.
Um, it’s from Sing – lol
Despite the melodrama, you may be shocked to find that this TikTok sound is actually our lord and saviour Jennifer Hudson belting her tits off at the start of Sing.
The song is actually called Golden Slumbers / Carry That Weight, and it’s a mashup. It’s taken right from the opening sequence of Sing, and it’s extremely dramatic. But TikTok are using the sound in the most random way possible for the trend.
What is the TikTok trend?
It’s hard to describe, but it’s a certain type of joke where once the vocals start the plot twists and the person filming themselves gets put into a glam filter. An example caption I saw was “Me explaining a problem to my boyfriend” and his solution was “Don’t worry about it”.
Another one that really made me laugh was “”My mum innocently checking the family computer in 2013” VS “The 10,000 word fanfic that I wrote about the Black Eyed Peas.” Erm, it’s probably better if I just show you with some best examples…
