Police called to University College London’s campus over suspected trespassing

Officers arrived to check on a man detained by security


The police were called to University College London (UCL)’s Bloomsbury campus late at night on Monday, 6th March.

It is revealed they were there to assist UCL’s security, who had detained a man suspected to be trespassing.

New Scotland Yard told The London Tab the man was removed from campus but no criminal offences were found.

The Metropolitan Police said: “Officers were called at 22:46hrs on Monday, 6th March to the campus of University College London, Gower Street, WC1.

“Security had detained a man who was suspected to be trespassing.

“No offences were disclosed.”

A UCL spokesperson told The London Tab: “Police were asked to attend UCL’s main campus on Monday night, to help assist with a man we believed to be trespassing. We thank the Police for their quick response and for working with UCL’s security team.

“The safety and security of staff and students at UCL is of the highest priority, and our security team provides a 24/7 service.”
