Here’s why everyone playing Hogwarts Legacy absolutely loathes Ignatia Wildsmith
What a pest
Hogwarts Legacy is a game full of nuisance NPC characters who run around the vast map saying annoying quips left, right and centre – but none infuriate players more than Ignatia Wildsmith. Having annoying NPC lines in video games is of course nothing we can hold against Hogwarts Legacy, considering this has been an iconic if not pesky trait of game since the dawn of time. Nary a day goes by where I don’t think about how truly insufferable the Skyrim guards were every time you walked past, but over time it becomes part of the charm. But not for Ignatia Wildsmith in Hogwarts Legacy. She can suffer.
Who is Ignatia Wildsmith?
Ignatia Wildsmith is the inventor of the Floo network, seen in the Harry Potter films when Harry famously shouted DIAGONALLY rather than Diagon Alley, and ended up in Knockturn Alley. In Hogwarts Legacy, Ignatia quips every time a player comes even CLOSE to using the Floo network. Not even if you use it, just if you go NEAR. It’s truly hell on earth. “Off on another adventure, are we?” She asks perkily. Yes! OF COURSE! That’s the whole point of the game!
Hogwarts Legacy players on Reddit are pasting her, with some even calling her worse than Voldemort and Dolores Umbridge. Says a lot when even the most evil characters in this franchise are less annoying than this pest.
Hogwarts Legacy has been controversial and has garnered criticism throughout its development due to transphobic remarks from franchise creator JK Rowling made since 2020. Avalanche, the developers of the game, have said she is not involved at all – but it is likely since she owns the IP rights to the franchise that she will profit from the sales.
