Former Lancs student who wore rape joke t-shirt whilst at uni worked on Sunak’s campaign
Connor Axiotes was a part of Sunak’s ‘Ready4Rishi’ campaign
A former Lancaster University student who wore a t-shirt with rape jokes as part of Snowsports social whilst at university recently worked on Rishi Sunak’s campaign to become prime minister.
Connor Axiotes worked for Sunak’s “Ready for Rishi” campaign between July and September 2022, and currently works within the House of Commons.
In 2018, Connor was a member of Lancaster University’s Snowsports Society and was attending his society’s first social of the year at Sugarhouse, “LUSS Social #1: White Tee Social”.

However rather than wearing simply a white t-shirt, Connor’s t-shirt had slogans including “Tory c*nt”, “Gary Glitter”, and “I’ve got muscles cos my dad raped me”, written on his top.
There is no suggestion Connor wrote the slogans on his t-shirt or anyone else’s. He told The Mirror on Saturday he denied any wrongdoing.
The actions of the society led to a suspension and investigation, as the SU deemed their actions “far below the standards that were expected”.
At the time, two members of the society were formally investigated, although Connor Axiotes was not one of these as there is no indication that Axiotes was an organiser of the event. However, there is photographic evidence of his participation, which can be viewed here.
In their original statement to The Lancaster Tab, a spokesperson for LUSU said: “We’re extremely disappointed that this information has been made public before the investigation was concluded and that our panel has been compromised.

“The union takes allegations of this kind very seriously and the matter is being handled in line with our disciplinary procedures.”
Following LUSU’s investigation, the society were put on a probationary period of two years, and a social suspension until Lent Term of the 2018/19 academic year.
Number 10, The House of Commons, and Connor Axiotes have all been approached for comment.
