NUS votes in favour of free sanitary products but Leeds has been doing it for years so no big deal

At the NUS conference last Tuesday, delegates voted in favour of using funds to provide sanitary products that will soon be available to students across the UK.
The NUS declared that the price of female sanitary products is ‘classist’ and that students are ‘one of the hardest hit groups in society due to the government’s austerity policies’.

The University of Leeds passed a similar policy in 2014 and have been giving out sanitary products via food stamps for the past three years. LUU’s Welfare Officer is also ‘looking to stock pile some sanitary products as donations’, for those that can’t afford to pay for them at cost price in Essentials.
