Halloween Freaks Festival website crashes under huge demand

Tickets for the Union’s “Halloween Freaks Festival” went on sale this morning at 10am causing chaos amongst students.

Within the first minute of the tickets being live, 700 out of the available 4,000 had already been sold, prompting panicked students to log onto the union website to buy their tickets. However, the large volume of traffic caused the website to crash. It allowed you to add tickets to your basket, yet the proceed to check out button was broken.

Their Facebook page was full of stressed students asking what was going on, as well as anger amongst people who had lectures to get to.

Whilst there was a meltdown online however, the union box office was empty, proving how much we live in a digital age. Once it was discovered there was no queue at the Union, people were seen dashing out of lectures and seminars to go and buy tickets.

This year’s event will be taking place on Monday 31st October, and tickets are priced at £6 each, and the maximum you are able to buy is 10.

The night promises “the biggest horror party in Sheffield”, with a silent disco, fire breathers and a photobooth, as well as rooms for the Union’s bestselling events, Tuesday Club, Roar and Pop Tarts.
